Watercolored Flowers – With A Twist

Hello! The card this time has a couple of twists. Its doesn’t look like it upfront, but for me the techniques used are a first. 🙂

Here’s what I did – I first die cut the flowers using Flower Layers and Leaf dies from Sizzix. I then drew the flowers on the die cuts using my sketch pens. The sketch pens, by nature react to water and release the pigments – I made use of that for watercoloring.

The twist for me here is that I didn’t use any stamps, but instead relied on the shape of the dies for drawing the flowers! 🙂 The technique of watercoloring using the sketch pens too – although I knew about this technique from my childhood, its my first time successfully using in a card like this! Super happy! 😀 Along with curving the leaves, I also foam mounted some and directly adhered other flowers to achieve a look of dimension.

Coming back to the rest of the card – I stamped the stripy background using Good Day Sunshine from We R Memory Keepers in Hero Arts Tide Pool. The sentiment, Hero Arts All Occasions Messages is stamped in Faber Castell green ink.

And that’s my card! How do you like it?

Celebratory Blossoms

Hello! Back with another card. I made it pretty simple this time – in fact I wanted to keep it one layered, but it felt like something was missing (;)), so I ended up with a two-layered one.

I first stamped the background using Burlap from Just Rite and Hero Arts Butter Bar, after erasing most of the ink on a sheet, to get a very light image.

I then stamped the flowers and leaves from Full Bloom from Micia using Soft Pool, Soft Cantaloupe and Butter Bar from Hero Arts, overlapping the images, in a triangle formation. Finally I stamped the sentiment from Big Bold You from Winnie & Walter in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Makes for a pretty pattern paper, don’t you think? 🙂
