#592 – Modern Art Marbling

PE: Gossip Queen at Taheerah’s Gossip Column challenge!! Yay!! 😀

At least, that is how this one looks like to me! 😉

Modern Art Marbling - Hello

The only time consuming thing in this card is drawing all those separating lines. I had to draw them using a pencil first, then color and then retrace the lines. But if you are confidant enough to draw them using a pen the first time, it becomes even faster.

Modern Art Marbling - Hello

And here’s my inspiration picture, also from Taheerah’s Gossip Column post –

In retrospect, I can clearly see that the lines in my card are a bit harsher. A bit more fluid would have looked a lot better. Like my sister said, they look like lightening bolts.. albeit colorful. Its like the card is threatening with a hello rather than greeting a hello!! 😀 😀 Lesson learnt! 😉

Products used: Winnie & Walter In a Word: Hello cutaway, Zig brush pens, Uniball Signo black gel pen. And transparent sequins.

#591 – Marbling Using Zig Brush Pens

Hello! Playing along with The Gossip Column with Taheerah Atchia | No.6 – Marble, is really making me try some new stuff.

I spent the whole of yesterday, trying to get a marbled effect using just watercolors. Any type of watercolors, but watercoloring in essential. I wanted to try something other than those nail polishes, shaving cream or even alcohol ink marbling techniques..I was craving for some technique that would use watercolors, since they are my absolute favorite media. And by the end of the day, I had used quite a few watercolor panels, most of them, completely not looking marbled… but some of them did look marbled (yay!) And here’s one card made out of one of those that did –

Great Day

This is the inspiration image from Taheerah’s challenge. I know, it doesn’t look much like the image, but… I tried! 😀 And I am happy enough to try the technique again.. so there!! 😉

I used Zig Brush pens to create the marbled paper. The flowers are from Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Lola’s Bouquet stamp set. I made a colored and misted background for the purple flower, and colored the other flower the usual way – all using the Zig Brush pens. The leaves are from Marianne Designs Daisy and Leaves die. The sentiment is a mix from The Big, The Bold and Party and The Big, The Bold and Extras.

Great Day

Once I brought all the pieces together, I added some Spectrum Noir clear sparkle on the flowers, black glitter stickles on the purple flower, Nuvo Crystal Drops Bright Gold on the other one. I also added a bit of the Spectrum Noir sparkle (none of these sparkles are visible in these images!! 😦 ) I added drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops Silver Lining and Fevicryl Glitter Gold for embellishing.

#574 – Handmade Marble Paper

Hello! This time, I a pretty much CAS card. I guess the card itself looks pretty bland, but I am still pretty happy with it – since I made that wonderful marble background myself! Yup, I did!! 😀

I don’t have special papers for alcohol inks. Instead I used the paper that comes with stamp sets – so that’s another feather in the cap – recycled element! Of course, the paper is a bit shiny, not one that directly absorbs the ink, so I was able to work with it plenty well. 🙂

My reference for this pretty technique are these videos (here and here) which were about nail decoration – yes nails! But since they used alcohol inks themselves, with such absolutely amazing effects, I was compelled to do the same – and thankfully, they turned out just right!

Supplies used:
Adirondack Eggplant alcohol ink and Blending solution

#540 – Winnie & Walter: The Gossip Column: Take 2

PE: Hot Gossips (runner-up) at the Gossip Column challenge!!!

Hello! The Gossip Column this time is really inspiring!! I have already added one card to the challenge, but I thought of making another, especially since the time was extended! So, since I got my fill with glitter last time, I thought I would try some leafing –

Happy Birthday

I started with a card panel and added embossing paste over Winnie & Walter Scenery: Madison stencil. After leaving it overnight to dry, I added Zig two way glue, left it alone for some 15 mins, before adding my leafing. The leafing I used was actually leftover pieces, with gold, copper and silver leafing.

Happy Birthday

Once that dried, I added the sentiment, with the Winnie & Walter Happy cut using white cardstock and foam mounted and the rest of the sentiment from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold & Party stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black.

#530 – Winnie & Walter Challenges

I have been really inspired by the Winnie & Walter challenges, throughout the year, in fact! I love their products, but I only had all the sentiment stamps so far. So, I when I finally received some other stamps and dies, I just couldn’t wait anymore. Just had to make some cards!!! And my mojo couldn’t have been better!! 😀

Card 1 – Inspired by the Rerun Challenge #14: In Bloom: Renee’s Leaves.

Winnie & Walter - RerunI got inspired by Shay’s card –

I love how the pattern paper is so well incorporated in the card – it doesn’t even feel like there is one!! The colors on the leaves look amazing! Such a simple card packed with a huge bang!!

So, here’s my version of it –

Of course, I don’t own the gorgeous In Bloom: Renee’s Leaves stamp set. 😦 I used a leaf stamp from In Bloom: Addie’s Garden. I used pattern paper from Best of Heidi Swapp, stamped the leaf using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it using Zig brush pens. I then die cut the sentiment using some special paper I had – this one looks like grey bark – and then mounted it using foam tape. Just a few pearls complete the embellishing.

I am also submitting this card to Sovushka Slavia: CAS Marathon: Round 1: Stamping

Card 2 – Inspired by The Gossip Column Challenge #5: Precious Metals

Another fantastic inspiration column – I mean, have you seen Taheerah’s cards?? Mind blowing!! I really don’t know how she makes them, but I am sure glad she does! Awesome inspiration and total eye-candy!! 😀

My card is a total inverse of what you see above. Full of glitter and bling!!

So, I chose watercolor paper, colored them with Antiqued Bronze, Tarnished Brass and Brushed Pewter distress paint and left it overnight to dry. I then added glue and added red and gold glitter. While it was drying, I cut several pieces of the diamond using Winnie & Walter Flawless Diamond. On the first piece, I used silver glitter embossing, using this technique by Jennifer McGuire. It came out really beautiful, but I wanted a bit more glitter (!) So I added silver stickles on top of it.

And finally once the glitter on all these panels were dry, I embossed the sentiment from Winnie & Walter My Precious using silver glitter embossing powder, then glued the diamond on top.

I think this satisfied my glitter craving for a while! 😛

I am also submitting this to the Inkspirational Challenge #118: Glamour

#496 – Share The Love Week (3)

PE: One in Top 10 Favorites of Virginia’s View Challenge!!! Yay! And double yay!!

Virginia's View - Top 10 Favorites

Its ‘Share the Love Week’ at Ellen Hutson and Winnie & Walter, where they have both combined their products and come up with some amazing cards and challenges over the course of 5 days.

Ellen Hutson - Winnie & Walter - Share The Love Week

I am sharing my next card in the series, to be exact, for Day 3: Background Building. Here’s my card –

Have a Beautiful Day

For this card, I used one of the stamps from Winnie & Walter Scenery: Its a Wonderful Pennant along with my MISTI and used various Memento inks to get an ombre and colorful background. I then trimmed it and mounted it over the card base.

Have a Beautiful Day

The sentiment, from Ellen Hutson Mondo Magnolia is heat embossed in white over a piece of trimmed vellum. I mounted it using silver dotted washi tape, along with some silver string for embellishing.

Its a simple card, but took quite some time in the making – I couldn’t even decide where and how to mount the sentiment (maybe having a die cut sentiment would have been easier, but I don’t own any from Ellen Hutson or from Winnie & Walter) or even what to embellish the card with. But I am mostly satisfied with the card, except for the fact that the string shows beneath the washi – wish I could have avoided that somehow.. any ideas?

I am also entering Virginia’s View Challenge #22: All About Colors and Winnie & Walter: The Gossip Column with Taheerah Atchia No. 4: Spectrum

Thank you for stopping by, hope you liked the card! 🙂
