#649 – Winnie & Walter Leading Lady

Hello! So so excited, that I am surprised I was able to keep it in all this while!! Last month, Shay contacted me and asked me to be Winnie & Walter Leading Lady for the month of August! How could anyone decline, of course it was a big big YES!!

Winnie & Walter Leading Lady Badge

I’ve been a fan ofΒ Winnie & Walter since a couple of years. It started with their World Card Making Day and Anniversary challenges – I loved all the challenges, and started pining for their stamps and dies… and I still do!

So, here’s the details of my first post as Winnie & Walter Leading Lady! I am using the In Bloom: Coralina’s Florals to make two cards, incorporating some kind of ‘shine’ into them, while trying to keep the making of the cards simple and easy –

2017-07-23(5a)

For my first card, I started with a watercolor panel. I drew a curved line using a pencil, stamped my images on the curve, heat embossed them white. I them colored them using Perfect Pearls. I then added a few splatters, after letting everything dry completely.

2017-07-23(5b)

Using Perfect Pearls is a very easy way of adding shine and style to your card. They are versatile, and the pigment forms a beautiful watercolored effect.. and the shine is simply gorgeous! They are perfect to color outline stamps, and In Bloom: Coralina’s Florals, which has beautiful outlined flowers is just perfect!

2017-07-23(5c)

Once I was done coloring, I die cut the panel using Essentials: Lana’s Cutaways, and foam mounted it on the card base. I then stamped the sentiment, from Party On, fussy cut it, then foam mounted that too.

For my second card, I chose Nuvo Mousse for adding shine –

2017-07-23(5d)

For this card, I picked a white card stock panel, stamped all my images, from In Bloom: Coralina’s Florals using normal dye inks. I also used the solid stamps this time, using darker inks to stamp the outlines, and lighter inks for the solids. Once done, I applied Nuvo Mousse Lemon Sorbet on top. Just look at that shine!

2017-07-23(5e)

Now, my cardstock had a bit of texture to it, so the mousse wasn’t evenly applied.. but I did love the effect! πŸ™‚ Also ,the small stamps in In Bloom: Coralina’s Florals are perfect to create a pattern paper to create the base for applying mousse. In fact, I loved it so much that I just didn’t want to add anything on top of it!! But I had to, I was making a card, after all! πŸ™‚

So for the sentiment, I used Sentimental Birthday and die cut it using one of the label dies from Essentials: Lana’s Cutaways, then applied some more of the mousse on the edges, lightly. I wanted to stack the labels, but since there is only one die in the set, I simply marked a scrap card stock to mark the same die’s outer edge and fuzzy cut it.

Before stacking the sentiment and the shiny panel, I added some scored lines on the edges of the panel, then foam mounted everything on the card stock. I then added a few Nuvo Drops as embellishment.

I am also joining these challenges with my cards –

#641 – Foiled Butterflies

Hello! Yup, I made a couple more cards!! Who could stop themselves when they get to add some pretty butterflies – and with foiling to boot!! Not me!! πŸ˜€

2017-07-09(2a)

My first card, I used gold foil from DecoFoil. The butterflies are from Tattered Lace, which I mounted over a die cut panel, which I embossed using Altenew Sketched Lines stencil, and mounted over a white card base. The tag sentiment is from Neat and Tangled Birthday Tags die.

I am submitting this card to the following challenges –

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #177 – Tic Tac Toe (I used butterflies, add a tag, add texture)

Stempel Garten Challenge #63: Anything that Flies

Happy Little Stampers: July CAS Challenge: Birthday

For my second card, I used aluminium foil – I adhered it to some scrap card stock using double sided tape and die cut both the butterfly and the sentiment from them. The butterfly is from My Favorite Things Flutter of Butterflies and the sentiment is Paper Smooches Warm Wishes.

2017-07-09(3a)

For the colorful background, I used Paper Trey Ink Triangles cover plate die. I die cut several colorful cardstock, then pieced them together to the pattern I found in the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. Somehow I found that creating the pattern for the background to be easier than creating some random pattern for it – then I would have had to ensure that not too many similar pieces are together.. so tiring!! πŸ˜‰

#620 – Happy Birthday Ma!

PE: Honorable Mention at Just Add Ink!!

Top at Lesia Zgharda!!

Lesia Zgharda - Top

Hello! This is the card I made for my dearest Ma.. which was just a week ago. If you’ve read this blog before, you’d know she loves flowers more than I do.. so its a no brainer when I need to make a card for her.. I just choose flowers.. every single time.. and she loves them! πŸ˜€

Here’s what I made for her this time –

2017-05-28(2a)

I stamped the flowers from Altenew Adore You stamp set (isn’t that perfect?! :)) using Antique Linen distress inks and colored them using Prima watercolor pencils…and watercolored them (these three words cover the effort of 3 days, by the way..).

2017-05-28(2b)

Once done, I trimmed the sides a little bit. I even added and colored leaves where I felt there was too much empty space. Until this point I had only thought of adding the sentiment directly on the panel. But now, I felt that the sentiment wouldn’t show up, amidst all the coloring. I didn’t want to cover those pretty flowers that I spent hours on with some die cut or a sentiment panel. So I went with the easiest solution – vellum.

2017-05-28(2c)

I used Spellbinders Persian Accent die to cut the top of a vellum strip, stamped the sentiment, then aligned and die cut the bottom bit, and finally trimmed the sides. This way, a corner die turned into a frame die! πŸ˜‰ I adhered this on the watercolor panel using Multi Medium Matte. Finally adhered the panel on the kraft cardstock. AndΒ  that’s my card!

I must mention, I am loving the Prima watercolor pencils. I was able to buy just two sets of these pencils.. and I love the colors in them…soft and muted colors which I find difficult to get from some other sets, which have bright and cheery colors.. But of course, you can always add more color and make these colors bright as well.. And also, I am only talking about the two sets that I brought, the other sets might carry brighter colors – I don’t know since I haven’t used them! (Disclaimer: I am not marketing them, I am just stating the fact that I like them)

I am submitting my card to the following challenges –

Just Add Ink Challenge #361: Just Choose Two: Flowers, Washi Tape or Watercolor (I chose Flowers and Watercolor)

Timeout Challenge #84: Flowers and Friends make life a garden

The Heart Desires Challenge #12 (Inspired by the colors and flowers)

#610 – Addicted to CAS – Guest Designer

Hello! I am really happy to day to be Guest Designing at the Addicted to CAS Challenge blog! Thank you so much for having me over! πŸ™‚

ATCAS - GUEST DESIGNER

The theme this time is “Grunge”.

ATCAS - code word grunge

Now, I am not someone who makes grunge cards, and the theme was pretty difficult for me.. but that’s what challenges are for – guest designing or not!! πŸ˜‰ After pondering on it for a while, I came up with this card –

2017-04-23(6a)

The stamp set Adore You from Altenew is just perfect for a variety of techniques – starting from just outlining in beautiful colors, or coloring.. so why not make some grunge?…I thought.. So I mixed it with My Favorite Things Abstract Art stamp set to make this card. Of course, I used MISTI for great and perfect stamping, since the flowers are cut outs, foam mounted on the base, mounted to give dimension.

Finally, the sentiment, black base with heat embossed sentiment, came from Mama Elephant In My Heart stamp set.

#512 – Thanks

Hello!

First, some good news – I don’t usually put reports of my wins in challenges, but this one is a bit special. Virginia’s View Challenge is one of my favorite challenges – she just re-started the challenge after a break, and wow! There were so many submissions and so much of inspiration!! She announced the winners just yesterday, and I have my cards, not just in the Top 10, but also as an Honorable Mention – double the reasons to celebrate!!

So here’s my thanks to Virginia, the super lady – she’s an inspiration!!

2016-08-12(1a)

A very simple card to make – and I think if the pink is replaced by blue, it can even make a standard (at least color wise) masculine card! πŸ˜‰

2016-08-12(1b)

Supplies used:
Altenew Painted Poppies
Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Sweet Blush, PTI Melon Berry, PTI Berry Sorbet, Memento Pear Tart and Crushed Olive distress ink
American Crafts Shimelle Woodgrain embossing folder
PTI Wet Paint

I made that silver paper myself by applying some silver acrylic paint on cardstock. Looks so beautiful, I love it!!
