Hello! So so excited, that I am surprised I was able to keep it in all this while!! Last month, Shay contacted me and asked me to be Winnie & Walter Leading Lady for the month of August! How could anyone decline, of course it was a big big YES!!
I’ve been a fan ofΒ Winnie & Walter since a couple of years. It started with their World Card Making Day and Anniversary challenges – I loved all the challenges, and started pining for their stamps and dies… and I still do!
So, here’s the details of my first post as Winnie & Walter Leading Lady! I am using the In Bloom: Coralina’s Florals to make two cards, incorporating some kind of ‘shine’ into them, while trying to keep the making of the cards simple and easy –
For my first card, I started with a watercolor panel. I drew a curved line using a pencil, stamped my images on the curve, heat embossed them white. I them colored them using Perfect Pearls. I then added a few splatters, after letting everything dry completely.
Using Perfect Pearls is a very easy way of adding shine and style to your card. They are versatile, and the pigment forms a beautiful watercolored effect.. and the shine is simply gorgeous! They are perfect to color outline stamps, and In Bloom: Coralina’s Florals, which has beautiful outlined flowers is just perfect!
Once I was done coloring, I die cut the panel using Essentials: Lana’s Cutaways, and foam mounted it on the card base. I then stamped the sentiment, from Party On, fussy cut it, then foam mounted that too.
For my second card, I chose Nuvo Mousse for adding shine –
For this card, I picked a white card stock panel, stamped all my images, from In Bloom: Coralina’s Florals using normal dye inks. I also used the solid stamps this time, using darker inks to stamp the outlines, and lighter inks for the solids. Once done, I applied Nuvo Mousse Lemon Sorbet on top. Just look at that shine!
Now, my cardstock had a bit of texture to it, so the mousse wasn’t evenly applied.. but I did love the effect! π Also ,the small stamps in In Bloom: Coralina’s Florals are perfect to create a pattern paper to create the base for applying mousse. In fact, I loved it so much that I just didn’t want to add anything on top of it!! But I had to, I was making a card, after all! π
So for the sentiment, I used Sentimental Birthday and die cut it using one of the label dies from Essentials: Lana’s Cutaways, then applied some more of the mousse on the edges, lightly. I wanted to stack the labels, but since there is only one die in the set, I simply marked a scrap card stock to mark the same die’s outer edge and fuzzy cut it.
Before stacking the sentiment and the shiny panel, I added some scored lines on the edges of the panel, then foam mounted everything on the card stock. I then added a few Nuvo Drops as embellishment.
I am also joining these challenges with my cards –
