#624 – Guest Designer for Timeout Challenge

Hello! I am super excited to be Guest Designer for Timeout Challenge! I am absolutely delighted to play along with this talented team!!

Time Out Challenge - Guest Designer

The challenge this time a picture inspiration with the theme is “Home Sweet Home”,Β sponsored by Happy Little Stamper, who are giving a $15 gift voucher for winner! Here’s the picture inspiration –

Home Sweet Home

Isn’t that bird on the front cushion a real beauty!? I mean, really! I tell you, this is the first time I seriously wanted an image layering bird stamp set – there are so many to choose from, that I always deferred from buying one, but this image really pushed me… and I restrained myself with great difficulty (please don’t berate me, I am trying to be on a budget!! πŸ˜‰ )

So, I just chose another one of those pretty cushions – the one on the right most behind. I just loved the look of those beautiful lilacs, and I had just the perfect pattern paper for this!! And this is what I made –

Birthday Wishes

I trimmed a portion of the flower from the paper, so that I could mount it on another level. And I adhered the rest of the paper on the base, then added a piece of vellum, that I embossed with Craft Concepts Grunge Stripes embossing folder, on top. I then adhered the paper with the flower on it, trimming the excess on all sides. The sentiment die cut is Winnie & Walter In a Word: Wishes.

Birthday Wishes

And that’s my card. Hop you are inspired by it.

#580 – Chasing Mojo and Wishing You..

PE: Headliner at The Paper Players!!

Hello! I am submitting another card for the Chasing Mojo with Sweet Kobylkin challenge.

b3eb4-chasing2bmojo2binsta

This time, I am CASEing the amazing lady herself – Ksenija aka Sweet Kobylkin (finally, yay! πŸ˜‰ ). Here’s her card to CASE

Here’s how Kseija has made her beautiful card -masking, ink blending and then taking off the mask to stamp. I didn’t realize how sweet this technique is until I made a card with the same!

Wishing You..

I just switched the colors and the layout..and such a splendid effect!! Of course, I do have a little goof-up! 😦 See the bottom right edge? See how it is no bright white?? That’s because, when I first made the card, I hadn’t blended the ink over the entire card, it was only on the right half. But once done, I decided to add the color over the entire card, and since I had already colored the right, I didn’t mask it…and then when I came back to darken it up a little…sigh… I guess it could have been worse…and yes, I was too lazy to start over! πŸ˜‰ Well, I will definitely be making more with this technique, so.. yes, I think I’ll get over this little mistake in no time! πŸ˜›

Wishing You..

#559 – Snowflakes – Stamps and Watercoloring

Hello! I am still stuck with snowflakes, but stamps this time. I really wanted to do some watercoloring so, I just went with heat embossing with watercoloring to create these two cards, both with non-traditional Christmas colors –

Happy Holidays

For the first one, I colored a watercolor panel using my Gansai Tambi set, then stamped and gold heat embossed the snowflakes from Simon Says Stamp Lots of Snowflakes – I just love the multitude and diverse snowflakes in this stamp set. Once done, I trimmed the panel and added the sentiment from BoBunny Sentiments stamp set using MISTI and Black Soot distress ink (I am trying stamping using this ink now-a-days, since I am not using it so much for anything else! ;))

Merry & Bright

For my second card, I first stamped the sentiment using Honey Bee Stamps Brush Grunge Alpha and heat embossed it using silver glitter embossing powder. I used the same snowflake and same embossing for some smaller snowflakes around the sentiment. I then added stripes of gold watercoloring using Gansai Tambi Starry Colors – loving the gold colors in this!! Now, once done, I noticed that the embossing wasn’t done properly, so I had to go and do it all over again! That’s the reason some of the snowflakes are not that clean and crisp…:( But I do love the look of this, so I can definitely try it with something else! πŸ˜€

#523 – Love you a Bunch

PE: Topper at Lesia Zgharda!!

Hello! Made this card a couple of days ago for the current Waffle Flower challenge –

Love you a Bunch

I first die cut the circles using Paper Trey Ink Circles die, and colored a few of the circles using Faber Castell oil pastels. I then did dry embossing using the same die on another panel. This time, I first added ink on the die cutting plate using Memento Brilliance Galaxy Gold before doing the embossing. I then trimmed down the panel and foam mounted the colored circles in place.

Love you a Bunch

For the flowers, I stamped them on scrap cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black and stamped the solid parts using Hero Arts Neon Blue, Hero Arts Butter Bar and Memento Pear Tart and then fuzzy cut them. I was contemplating on how to arrange them on the card, but decided to keep it for later. Now, I had kept the whole thing stacked on my work table, and when I picked it up again the next day, a happy accident happened. I had arranged the flowers, as a bunch, right where I’ve placed the sentiment now, but when I picked it up, the flowers had scattered – exactly as you see it on the card now! I absolutely loved this scattered arrangement, and decided to go with it. And so, I just adhered the flowers as is, and then added the sentiment, from the same stamp set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, and adhered it on the card.

#503 – A Happy Hello

PE: Runner Up at A2ZScrapboooking Challenge!!!

..and a colorful one too! πŸ˜‰

A Happy Hello

I made this one layer, watercolor card a couple of days ago, using distress inks for watercoloring. I first stamped the little images from Hero Arts Flower Garden using MFT Hybrid black ink, then added some loose watercoloring using Picked Raspberry, Aged Mahogany, Dusty Concord and Fossilzed Amber. I then added a few splatters using Camel black drawing ink. And when it all dried, I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black.

A Happy Hello

#476 – CASometry Challenge #2: Make 5

Hello!

Have you known about the CASometry Challenge from the blog of the fabulous Anna Kossakovskaya? Its only the second challenge. I missed the first challenge, and really felt that I should participate in the next one, if she ever held it. The challenge this time is Make 5, i.e., to make 5 CAS cards using a single stamp set (of course, mixing in other stamp sets is allowed, but there needs to be one stamp set in common among all the 5 cards). Here’s my first card I made for the challenge… and today’s post carries the second one. πŸ™‚

Its Your Birthday

I got this idea from a few cards I saw – the idea is to keep no colors at all on the main elements – here the critters – and make it a color splash of sorts – here the balloons. I kinda liked the idea and wanted to try it out. Here are a couple of other ideas I stored in my Pinterest board (here and here), and a couple more, with minimal coloring (here and here).

For this card, I chose Fabriano Elle Erre Bina card stock. The critters are from the same stamp set as earlier – WPlus9 Happy Mail. For the flowery background, I used Purple Onion Designs Blooms, along with a couple of flowers from Happy Mail. The sentiment is from Sizzix Phrases stamp set. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp them all.

Its Your Birthday

The balloons are cut using dies from XCut Ballons set. For these, I first colored pieces of vellum using Faber Castell Oil Pastels, spread the color using baby oil (which didn’t spoil the vellum ;)) and then die cut them. I used three shades of color, mixing dark color in lighter areas to get some streaking, thus adding a bit of texture to an otherwise plain card. I drew the string’s lines on the balloons using Copic Multi Liner and then used Multi Medium Matte below them to adhered them to the card. The critters are fuzzy cut and foam mounted to the card.

I am also submitting this card to Just Us Girls Challenge #343: Vellum, Creative With Stamps Challenge #2: Clean and Simple , The Paper Players #295: Wild, Addicted to Stamps #194: Wild and Happy Little Stampers May Challenge: Anything Goes With Dies
