#802 – Thanks with Stripes and Gold

Hello and welcome!!

Experimenting with photo paper this time. I learnt that photo paper holds color as soon as it is put on – nothing to move it once it is done. While it maybe a bit scary, it really works well on some fronts. I wanted to try adding stripes with color variegation, and the photo paper turned out to be my best option to do that. And I combined this with one of the easiest way to add some glam into a project – gold heat embossing –

Thanks a Bunch

I used Paper Smooches Dainty Flowers, die cutting the two flowers 4 times from normal cardstock, then heat embossed them in gold embossing powder, with which I had mixed some fine gold glitter – extra bling! These two flowers along with a few gold sequins are the main focal point of the card.

For the background, I used photo paper, and stamped the stripes using My Favorite Things Bold Diagonal Stripes. I dabbed a few variations of pink distress inks, misted them and stamped them. Since the photo paper hold the colors steadfast immediately upon stamping, there wasn’t any blending after the stamping (even when I misted it with water) and I achieved the variegation that I wanted. Also, the glossy paper matches the gold embossing pretty well. πŸ™‚

Thanks a Bunch (closeup)

I die cut one side of the glossy paper using Simon Says Stamp Wavy Scallop Stitches before foam mounting it on a white card base. I then adhered the flower die cuts directly on it. The sentiment comes from Altenew Label Love. The stamping didn’t end up perfect, so I retouched it with a white gel pen. Added a few gold sequins for embellishing and my card is done!

#771 – Sequin Party

…well not exactly..

That’s the the new topping at the new challenge at Seize the Birthday – Sequins!

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

And here’s what I made –

Its Time to Party

I first stamped those cute lil animals from Pink Fresh Main Playful Animal Friends 2 in black ink, trimmed the panel. I then stringed the sequins, which I got from various sources, using a pale gold string, knotted the two ends of the string and taped it behind the panel. I then kept the panel aside.

Its Time to Party (closeup)

I then prepared the pink background using WPlus9 Background Builders Knit. I used two shades of pink, swiping the ink pad across the stamp, instead of pouncing it, to get this look. I trimmed this panel too, and adhered it to the card base. The two stripes below the critter panel are washi tapes, which are adhered together and foam mounted on the card base. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold and Party stamp set.

#769 – Your Day to Celebrate

Hello! I’ve got a fine way to start another week – another card!! πŸ˜€

It's Your Day to Celebrate

I made this card using a combination of images from the Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles and Happy Little Stampers Doodled Flowers stamp sets. After stamping them using Versafine Black ink, I colored them using my Zig Brush pens. I then die cut the panel using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.

It's Your Day to Celebrate (closeup)

I added a few more layers of same die cuts behind the panel and adhered it on a grey card base. The sentiment comes from Reverse Confetti Simply Sentiments, which I foam mounted on the card. Finally came a few embellishments in the form of white and silver gem stones.

#750 – Birthday Roses

PE: Honorable Mention at The Paper Players challenge!!

The Paper Players - Honorable Mention

Hello! Welcome to another flower filled birthday card post!! πŸ˜€

Happy Birthday (with Envelope)

This card was made for my sister for her birthday, given to her by my parents. I love making cards for my family, and it was making two cards for her.. πŸ˜€

I used a combination of Altenew Build a Flower: Rose and Vintage Flowers stamps. Both the stamp sets contain roses, and they went well together wonderfully. I also used the small flowers from Beautiful Day. The sentiment is from Lesia Zgharda called Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday (closeup)

I stamped all the images on white cardstock and fuzzy cut them all. After arranging them, I adhered a few pieces using foam tape, and few directly on the cardbase, to give the flora and foliagee different dimensions (which is not so apparent in these images). The sentiment is stamped twice – in black and a teal color, which gives it a shadow of sorts…

Happy Birthday

I also added a few dots, like splatters, of gold glimmer using Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint. I also used it lightly on the flowers, gold on the roses and silver on the little flowers and the leaves.

I used pattern paper to make the envelope instead of the usual white paper. I also stamped the same sentiment as the card, using teal only this time.

#624 – Guest Designer for Timeout Challenge

Hello! I am super excited to be Guest Designer for Timeout Challenge! I am absolutely delighted to play along with this talented team!!

Time Out Challenge - Guest Designer

The challenge this time a picture inspiration with the theme is “Home Sweet Home”,Β sponsored by Happy Little Stamper, who are giving a $15 gift voucher for winner! Here’s the picture inspiration –

Home Sweet Home

Isn’t that bird on the front cushion a real beauty!? I mean, really! I tell you, this is the first time I seriously wanted an image layering bird stamp set – there are so many to choose from, that I always deferred from buying one, but this image really pushed me… and I restrained myself with great difficulty (please don’t berate me, I am trying to be on a budget!! πŸ˜‰ )

So, I just chose another one of those pretty cushions – the one on the right most behind. I just loved the look of those beautiful lilacs, and I had just the perfect pattern paper for this!! And this is what I made –

Birthday Wishes

I trimmed a portion of the flower from the paper, so that I could mount it on another level. And I adhered the rest of the paper on the base, then added a piece of vellum, that I embossed with Craft Concepts Grunge Stripes embossing folder, on top. I then adhered the paper with the flower on it, trimming the excess on all sides. The sentiment die cut is Winnie & Walter In a Word: Wishes.

Birthday Wishes

And that’s my card. Hop you are inspired by it.

#580 – Chasing Mojo and Wishing You..

PE: Headliner at The Paper Players!!

Hello! I am submitting another card for the Chasing Mojo with Sweet Kobylkin challenge.

b3eb4-chasing2bmojo2binsta

This time, I am CASEing the amazing lady herself – Ksenija aka Sweet Kobylkin (finally, yay! πŸ˜‰ ). Here’s her card to CASE

Here’s how Kseija has made her beautiful card -masking, ink blending and then taking off the mask to stamp. I didn’t realize how sweet this technique is until I made a card with the same!

Wishing You..

I just switched the colors and the layout..and such a splendid effect!! Of course, I do have a little goof-up! 😦 See the bottom right edge? See how it is no bright white?? That’s because, when I first made the card, I hadn’t blended the ink over the entire card, it was only on the right half. But once done, I decided to add the color over the entire card, and since I had already colored the right, I didn’t mask it…and then when I came back to darken it up a little…sigh… I guess it could have been worse…and yes, I was too lazy to start over! πŸ˜‰ Well, I will definitely be making more with this technique, so.. yes, I think I’ll get over this little mistake in no time! πŸ˜›

Wishing You..

Supplies used –
Altenew Layered Lily
Altenew Orikami
Distress inks Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, Black Soot
