#796 – The Hedgehogs Say…

Hello and welcome to listen to what the hedgehogs want to say!! 😀 😀

I had these cute lil hedgehogs from MFT for quite some time now, and it felt like using autumn colors on them was the perfect idea. So, I made two cards, with the exact same arrangement, but with little changes.

Hedgehogs Say...

I used MFT Happy Hedgehogs and Verve Stamps Bountiful Harvest stamps. I actually wanted to test one of the cardstocks that I own, on which I usually do misted stamping for superb effects, with watercoloring. The results weren’t exactly what I expected, but my sis said she liked the soft tones, so I thought of using the piece (or rather, keeping the card I made) than not. And that’s the one you see on the right.

Hedgehogs Say...(card 1)

I made this other one as I wasn’t satisfied with the first one. The one on the right is made by watercoloring using distress inks – and even bright colors were significantly toned down by this card stock. And the one on the left using stamping with MFT Black hybrid ink, then coloring using Zig Brush pens.

Hedgehogs Say...(card 2)

Coming back to the card on the right. Once the cardstock had dried, I die cut it using MFT Stitched Mini Rectangles die, added a base of dark brown cardstock, then adhered it to a kraft cardbase that I had already stamped in plaid tones of orange, red and brown using the MFT Plaid Background Builders. The sentiment is heat embossed on the same dark brown cardstock, die cut using MFT Slanted Sentiment Strips, foam mounted on the panel.

Hedgehogs Say...(2)

For the card with the brighter tones, the sentiment comes from Ranger Letter It – Thank You stamp set. I used distress oxide inks to create the blend of colors in the background, on which I splattered some water. I fussy cut the hedgehogs and pumpkins and mounted them at different levels of dimension.

#794 – Stamped Floral Background

PE: Special Mention at Paru’s Card Making challenge!!

Paru's Card Making Challenge - Special mention

Hello and welcome!

Simply stamped backgrounds have their own charm, don’t you think?

Stamped Floral Background

And then, there are times when stamps from two different companies work so well together, you’d not be able to tell it! I knew Altenew Bride to Be would be the perfect match with the Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Victoria’s Very Merry Flowers – one stamp set has many florals, while the other has foliage. Perfect match! Even more when I had the perfect image for inspiration!

I stamped on a whole piece of cardstock! While I was totally excited and happy about how it had turned out, I had no idea how to proceed. I had chosen a light yellow base, not white, and it turned out that it wasn’t looking that good with the usual neutral colors. I tried and tried, and finally after staring at it for two weeks without any good results, I finally thought of going with a dark cardstock, maybe choosing a color which I have already used in my stamping.

Stamped Floral Background (closeup 1)

I was a bit torn between a dark orange and a dark blue; I went with the blue. Since I didn’t have the right color, I chose a blue cardstock, then added distress oxide ink Faded Jeans, to get a darker shade around the perimeter.

Before adhering the panel, however, I added a few splatters in blue and yellow. I also added a few dots and dashes on the flowers using a clear sparkling pen, then also added glossy medium on the flower centers.

Stamped Floral Background (sparkly closeup)

Once it had all dried, I foam mounted it on the card base. I then added the sentiment using die cuts from Neat & Tangled Journling Alphas. Again, from the same cardstock with blended oxide ink. I stacked the dies before adhering them on the card. I also added some Nuvo glitter drops in White Blizzard on top for some sparkle.

#793 – A Leafy Mandala

Hello and welcome! I got totally inspired by the recent ‘Wreath Builder’ ideas from Jennifer McGuire. There have been 3 videos in the series so far, and each one of them has been so inspiring! So, I got around to making my own stencil (using plain cardstock) for this purpose, and using a MISTI for my assistance, I made this card –

A Leafy Mandala

Its completely a CASE of Jennifer’s card! I used the little leaf stamps from Simon Says Stamp Nutty About You stamp set. All the colors are either brown, red or green. I just stamped without thinking much, just filling space however I felt. Initially my idea was to make the shape seem like a flower with 6 petals, but as I kept stamping, it turned out into a more of a Mandala. So, mandala it is!! 🙂

A Leafy Mandala

Once I finished the mandala, I trimmed the card panel, stamped a few dots in yellow, added dots of gold on them and lines in black on some of the leaves. I foam mounted this on a cardstock, on which I had blended some dark red ink. The sentiment is from Neat & Tangled Oak Leaf. I stamped it, then trimmed the small strip and added a frame around it by blending ink, then adding frames of gold and black by drawing lines using gold gel pen and a black fine marker pen. For embellishing, I used three colorful flower sequins – they shine red, gold and brown! So pretty!

#787 – Wedding Wishes

Hello! Another small-stamp-stamped-background today. Well, they aren’t actually small stamps, more like stamps with small images. But, that works too, for me! 😉

Wedding Wishes

I have a few colored cardstocks in my stash now, and I thought of using one here. Its a light yellow or ivory colored cardstock. I first stamped the images from Reverse Confetti Banner in Bloom stamp set across the panel in a dark grey ink. I then cut off a part of one of the stamps, which carried teeny tiny flowers to stamp them in between the spaces left behind. Once everything was to my satisfaction, I used Zig brush pens to color the images. This, I foam mounted on a white card base.

Wedding Wishes (closeup)

I also stamped the same images a few times on white cardstock, and also used the same colors of Zig brush pens to color them. I then fussy cut them. I die cut a piece of oval using My Favorite Things Zig Zag Stitched Oval. After stamping the sentiment from Reverse Confetti Simply Sentiments, I arranged the flowers on top and adhered foam tape to the back, which I then used to mount on the card. Embellishments are black gemstones and white pearls. I also used black gems on the centers of the three large flowers, but they aren’t exactly visible here.

#768 – I Smile…

PE: Caught by Altenew!!

Altenew - Caught by Altenew

Hello and welcome! Another one of those quicky cards up here on my blog today! 🙂

I Smile

I stamped the flowers and leaves from Altenew Layered Lily in shades of violet/purple. I also added a few smaller flowers from Beautiful Day stamped in grey ink. I used the same ink to stamp the sentiment also – the ‘i Smile’ is from Mama Elephant Calli letters, while the rest is from Altenew Build A Flower: Rose. I die cut this panel using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and mounted this on grey cardbase.

#759 – Beachy Birthday

PE: Honorable Mention at Timeout Challenge!

Time Out Challenge - Honorable Mention

Hello and welcome! We have a new challenge on Seize the Birthday blog. The challenge is to make birthday projects, and you also have the option of using a ‘Topping’ that is given in every challenge. And the ‘Topping’ this time is ‘Beachy Birthday’!

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

I usually love to make my birthday cards with the optional Topping, and oh, I had lots of trouble with this one. I neither have any stamp sets with a beach theme, not am I adept at creating a beachy scene.. I was totally lost! Thankfully, inspiration struck, and I was able to make this neat, one layered card.

Beachy Birthday

I used stamps from Reverse Confetti ‘Weather it Together’, and drew some squiggly lines for the ocean itself. I colored the scene using Zig Brush pens. The sentiment comes from Bo Bunny ‘Sentiments’ stamp set.

#756 – You Are…

Hello! One more day to the weekend!! I made this card in a rush today.. just got the idea, for a couple of challenges, and one of them has the deadline coming up… So, it was pretty much a rush job. Didn’t even have time to see/decide whether I truly liked it enough! But here it is –

You Are...

I used the stamps from Altenew Hannah Elements, stamped them on a white cardstock using pigment inks, then clear heat embossed them. I then colored them using Zig brush pens and fussy cut a little out. I then foam mounted this on a dark green cardbase. The sentiment die cut is from Altenew Inline Alpha dies, and the stamped portion is using Honey Bee Stamps Sentiment Builder.
