#681 – Winnie & Walter WCMD Celebrations (4)

Hello! And here’s the last of the cards I made for the Winnie & Walter WCMD Celebrations!

Winnie & Walter - WCMD 2017

I made this card when I was making the cards here, and thought of making use of the beautiful layering effect that distress oxide inks can bring about.

Birthday Wishes

I first created a layer of yellow-orange using distress oxide inks and ink smooshing technique. When this dried, I embossed the flowers and leaves from In Bloom: Lola’s Bouquet. I then added another layer of color using distress inks of teal-blue colors this time. Finally came the layer of sentiment – I used gold embossing, with the stamps from The Big, The Bold and Party. I also added a few details on the flowers and leaves, and a few scattered dots here and there, and also heat embossed those.

I then trimmed the panel, and mounted it on the card base, on which I had already adhered Brustro Iridescent gold metallic paper, for a little shiny gold – a good compliment to the gold embossing.

I am joining the following challenges – Lovely Layers challenge with Keren and Smooshing challenge with Lydia.

#680 – Winnie & Walter WCMD Celebrations (3)

Hello! The third post with another card I made for the Winnie & Walter WCMD Celebrations!

Winnie & Walter - WCMD 2017

This time I have a card, inspired by thissketchy‘ card I had made for when I was the Leading Lady at Winnie & Walter.

Hello There

When I had made the card earlier, I used drawing paper. But here, I used normal cardstock. Now, I dunno whether its the paper, or the pencil or something else, I could see that the sketch would smudge and spread like anything. So, I was really careful while sketching. And when I finished, I thought I would seal it with something, so that it wouldn’t smudge anymore. I don’t have any proper sealing product for this purpose, so I used Modge Podge. Imagine my horror when the first stroke ended up with a giant streak on my beloved sketch! I didn’t move for a second..and then decided that I would made the streaks a part of the project. I tried adding even more strokes and smudges when I brushed more of the Modge Podge on, and this is how it ended up looking.

Hello There

While I am happy to have saved the card, I am sure I need to find another sealant – I don’t want to have another heart attack, thanks, I’ve learnt my lesson!! 😀

Oh, and before I forget – I’ve used the same stamp set as I did use in that earlier ‘sketchy’ card – In Bloom: Addie’s Garden – like I said earlier, its just the perfect stamp set for adding ‘sketchy’ images! 😀 Also accompanying is the sentiment from Sketchy Thoughts; the sketched panel die cut using Essentials: Lana’s Cutaways.

Hello There

And with this card, I am joining the Background Building challenge with Mayuri.

#679 – Winnie & Walter WCMD Celebrations (2)

Hello! This is the second post with the cards made for the Winnie & Walter WCMD Celebrations!

Winnie & Walter - WCMD 2017

This time too, I have two cards –

Celebrate in Orange

I was completely inspired by this card by Vika Salmina! Love the colors she has used in her beautiful card, and the beautiful sentiment in black, forming a fantastic contrast with the flowers – just beautiful!

I used the same set of colors in my card, using the Winnie and Walter In Bloom: Lola’s Bouquet stamp set. The variation is – one is a CAS, one layered card, the other one is filled with a repeating pattern to make the background.

Celebrate in Orange

Keeping both the cards simple, I added the sentiments – I used a black die cut, using In a Word: Celebrate die, along with a stamped sentiment strip from The Big, The Bold & Party in this card…

Celebrate in Orange

…and here I used the sentiments from In Bloom: Carolina’s Florals along with Sentimental: Birthday stamp sets.

And the challenges I am joining are – CAS Challenge with Heather H, Background Building/Pattern Building Challenge with Mayuri and Variations Challenge with Shay.

#678 – Winnie & Walter WCMD Celebrations

Hello! I am back with a non-scheduled post! 🙂 I am joining the Winnie & Walter WCMD Challenges! 🙂

I really appreciate the Winnie & Walter team for having these wonderful set of challenges every year for World Card Making Day – such an amazing bunch of people! Thank you!! 🙂

Winnie & Walter - WCMD 2017

I really enjoy joining these challenges every year, but I’ve been a bit busy lately, so my entries are becoming last minute! But I do have a bunch of cards, which I will be posting in different posts, all coming out today.. so please check them all out! 🙂

Here’s the first set of cards –

W&W WCMD Christmas wih Owl

I’ve made a couple of “Christmas with Owl” cards 🙂 featuring the scene in day and night versions. I’ve used Winnie & Walter Scenery: Into the Woods stencil to create the background, with the owl and the rest of the elements in the scene from Winnie & Walter Happy Owlidays stamp set.

W&W WCMD Christmas wih Owl

For the night version of the card, I used distress oxide inks. Since these inks can easily be layered, I had no problems using darker colors, and simply adding the inks, to create the night sky and then the trees using the stencil. No masking, nothing. Just ink layering.

Once the layer was dry, I added the snow using white acrylic paint, splattering the paint on the surface.

W&W WCMD Christmas wih Owl

For the day version, I used the stencil with three different pink-ish distress inks to create the trees. I then used the Scenery: Spotted stencil to add the snow. I used a white gel pen and colored each spot on.. well, just wanted to do it like this once! 😀

For both the versions, I’ve used color pencil to color the owl, the branch and the Christmas ornaments, fuzzy cut it, then adhered it on the card using foam tape. The sentiment is stamped using black versamark ink.

#623 – Rainbow Butterfly Thanks

PE: Top Pick at The Challenge!!

The Challenge - Honorable Mention

Runner up at Seven Hills Crafts challenge!

Hello! First off, sorry about the grainy photos, I shot them at night, and couldn’t get a clear shot, no matter how much I tried… 😦

Made a rainbow striped card, totally inspired by a list of challenges (listed below, of course!)… and the butterfly.. simply because its been awfully long since I used one! 🙂

Thanks

I used Winnie & Walter Scenery:Stripes stamp set to stamp the rainbow stripes. I then die cut the butterfly from My Favorite Things Flutter of Butterflies, then the sentiment from Winnie & Walter: In A Word: Thanks die, then die cut the banner using My Favorite Things Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner.. the sentiment and the banner were a little overlapping, forming a sort of double die cut.

Thanks

Finally foam mounted the banner, and then adhered the butterfly directly on the card base. A few clear rhinestones for embellishing finished the card.

Submitting my card to the following challenges –

#592 – Modern Art Marbling

PE: Gossip Queen at Taheerah’s Gossip Column challenge!! Yay!! 😀

At least, that is how this one looks like to me! 😉

Modern Art Marbling - Hello

The only time consuming thing in this card is drawing all those separating lines. I had to draw them using a pencil first, then color and then retrace the lines. But if you are confidant enough to draw them using a pen the first time, it becomes even faster.

Modern Art Marbling - Hello

And here’s my inspiration picture, also from Taheerah’s Gossip Column post –

https://i0.wp.com/www.taheerah-atchia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/marble-dress.jpg

In retrospect, I can clearly see that the lines in my card are a bit harsher. A bit more fluid would have looked a lot better. Like my sister said, they look like lightening bolts.. albeit colorful. Its like the card is threatening with a hello rather than greeting a hello!! 😀 😀 Lesson learnt! 😉

Products used: Winnie & Walter In a Word: Hello cutaway, Zig brush pens, Uniball Signo black gel pen. And transparent sequins.

Submitting this to the following challenges –

#591 – Marbling Using Zig Brush Pens

Hello! Playing along with The Gossip Column with Taheerah Atchia | No.6 – Marble, is really making me try some new stuff.

d2974-the-gossip-column-lssue-6

I spent the whole of yesterday, trying to get a marbled effect using just watercolors. Any type of watercolors, but watercoloring in essential. I wanted to try something other than those nail polishes, shaving cream or even alcohol ink marbling techniques..I was craving for some technique that would use watercolors, since they are my absolute favorite media. And by the end of the day, I had used quite a few watercolor panels, most of them, completely not looking marbled… but some of them did look marbled (yay!) And here’s one card made out of one of those that did –

Great Day

This is the inspiration image from Taheerah’s challenge. I know, it doesn’t look much like the image, but… I tried! 😀 And I am happy enough to try the technique again.. so there!! 😉

https://i0.wp.com/www.taheerah-atchia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/marble-wedding-cake.jpg

I used Zig Brush pens to create the marbled paper. The flowers are from Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Lola’s Bouquet stamp set. I made a colored and misted background for the purple flower, and colored the other flower the usual way – all using the Zig Brush pens. The leaves are from Marianne Designs Daisy and Leaves die. The sentiment is a mix from The Big, The Bold and Party and The Big, The Bold and Extras.

Great Day

Once I brought all the pieces together, I added some Spectrum Noir clear sparkle on the flowers, black glitter stickles on the purple flower, Nuvo Crystal Drops Bright Gold on the other one. I also added a bit of the Spectrum Noir sparkle (none of these sparkles are visible in these images!! 😦 ) I added drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops Silver Lining and Fevicryl Glitter Gold for embellishing.

Thank you for stopping by! 🙂
