#552 – Thanks..in Black and Gold

Hello!

I recently got a set of Gansai Tambi watercolors, and tried it out in my previous card…and loved it! I love how rich the colors are, and smooth. And the best part – I don’t have to worry about lines. I owned a set of Camel watercolors till now, and the one complaint I had was that they dry quickly, and once set, I was completely unable to set the colors in motion again. I would see the lines/borders of the previously dried color, and had no idea how to get rid of it. No amount of water would move it, adding more color would not work..I was completely lost. So, I had to try and finish coloring while the colors were still wet..not losing any time at all. But I don’t have this problem with Gansai Tambi. And there’s the bonus of having such a variety of colors, including gold and silver – simply wow!!

Thanks

Ok…moving on from praising the watercolors … and coming back to actual action.. I made this card using the darkest brown, the black and gold colors from the set. I first stamped the flower from Ellen Hutson Mondo Magnolia using MFT Hybrid black ink using my MISTI (had to stamp twice, since the tooth of the paper wouldn’t let proper stamping the first time) and set about coloring. Once the panel dried, I stamped the sentiment using Honey Bee Stamps Brush Grunge Alpha, twice, once using Black Soot distress ink and then again using Memento Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink. I even added splatters of the gold from the watercolor. I then trimmed the edges and mounted it on white cardstock. That finished a quick and easy card – barely spent half an hour on it, even with the drying time. 😀

Thanks

#512 – Thanks

Hello!

First, some good news – I don’t usually put reports of my wins in challenges, but this one is a bit special. Virginia’s View Challenge is one of my favorite challenges – she just re-started the challenge after a break, and wow! There were so many submissions and so much of inspiration!! She announced the winners just yesterday, and I have my cards, not just in the Top 10, but also as an Honorable Mention – double the reasons to celebrate!!

So here’s my thanks to Virginia, the super lady – she’s an inspiration!!

Thanks

A very simple card to make – and I think if the pink is replaced by blue, it can even make a standard (at least color wise) masculine card! 😉

Thanks

Supplies used:
Altenew Painted Poppies
Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Sweet Blush, PTI Melon Berry, PTI Berry Sorbet, Memento Pear Tart and Crushed Olive distress ink
American Crafts Shimelle Woodgrain embossing folder
PTI Wet Paint

I made that silver paper myself by applying some silver acrylic paint on cardstock. Looks so beautiful, I love it!!

#506 – Set Sail for Adventure

PE: Honorable Mention/Lovely Little Tangle at Little Tangles Challenge!! 😀

Neat & Tangled - Honorable Mention (Lovely Little Tangle)

Top 3 at Woodcraft Store!! 😀

Scrapulechki - Top 3

Hello! I am making a card out of a single stamp set after a long time – the stamp set is Neat & Tangled Sailmates. And here’s the card –

Set Sail for Adventure

I first blended Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon distress inks, stamped the waves on a card panel, using the same inks, stamped off once, added some water splatters and stamped the waves once again. Once dry, I fussy cut it into two panels.

I then stamped the sail using Antique Linen distress ink and watercolored it using Fired Brick, Pine Needles and Black Soot distress inks. Once dry, I fussy cut it.

On the card base, I lightly drew a circle and water-colored in the sun using Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick.

I then added some shine to the sun, and the stamped regions of the waves using my Wink of Stella (finally spent, actually, I added some water..and it works brilliantly!) I stamped the sentiment, from the same stamp set, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then adhered the first, bigger, wave panel directly on the card base, then the sail and the second panel of waves using foam tape.

#482 – Dazzler

Woodcraft Store Top 3!!

Scrapulechki - Top 3

Hello!

Am back with another card for today! Its not a ‘dazzler’ but made using Penny Black Dazzler stamp set. 🙂

Thanks

I actually tried a couple of varieties – learning from my mistakes from each of those cards, before finishing with this one. Very simple to make, but I took too much time to decide where to stamp, how much to stamp, and even what to stamp – I had actually gone for Altenew Hannah Elements before deciding on this one. 🙂

Thanks

The technique I followed for the colored stripes is, I believe, quite well known now, coming Jennifer McGuire (here and here) – and I followed the ink blending method instead of the stamping one. I used Picked Raspberry, Dried Marigold, Tattered Rose and Scattered Straw distress inks and PTI Melon Berry along with Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink. Embossing is using Wow! copper embossing powder. And the sentiment is from Paper Smooches Thanks die. I used an orange foam for the base, adhering it below a die cut from white card stock.

Thanks

And that’s my simple card! 🙂 Submitting this to Woodcraft Store: Clean and Simple: Ornament, CAS On Sunday #84: Sparkle and Global Design Project #38 (sketch challenge)

#469 – Critter Calls

Hello!

I am possibly coming out of my ‘break‘..maybe..hopefully..not so sure..

But until I am completely sure, here are a couple of cards I made before my ‘break‘ and today..

Doggie Walks

I made this card before going on my break for the MFT Sketch and Color Challenges. And ended up not submitting for either. But, I did want to publish it. So here it is..! 🙂

I used all MFT products on this! All the stamping is done using MFT Hybrid black ink and stamps from My Favorite Things Top Dog and Cat-itude. The grass is MFT Fresh Cut Grass. For coloring, I used Mustard Seed, Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass distress inks for the scene and Pumice Stone & Frayed Burlap for the cute doggie. Of course, everything (other than the grass) is fussy cut, since I didn’t invest in the dies.

The MFT challenges are long over, but there are a couple others I am submitting this to – Seize the Birthday: Anything Goes, Addicted to Stamps #191: Anything Goes and Timout Challenge #55: Celebrations with optional twist of die cutting/fussy cutting. I did make this card keeping a birthday celebration in mind, just in case it is not clear! 🙂

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

For my second card – I just made this today. 🙂 I really struggle with CAS cards and critter cards – making a CAS critter card was a ridiculous challenge for me!! But, I am quite happy with the outcome! 🙂

Hey There

The birds are from Mama Elephant Oh Happy Birds, the flowering branch is Purple Onion Designs Blossoming Perch, and the clouds are from Paper Smooches Spreading Sunshine – all stamped using My Favorite Things Hybrid black ink. I watercolored the birds using Fossilized Amber distress ink, the branch and clouds using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. I then fuzzy cut the birds and clouds, cut the panel using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles, stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler. I then foam mounted the panel on the card base and adhered the birds and clouds using foam dots. A simple card, but it really tough for me to not add a lot of color in the background…oh, the itching fingers!! 😀
