#1138 – Vintage Flowers

Hello and welcome! We have a new challenge up at Addicted to Stamps & More and the challenge this time is to ‘Make Your Mark‘!

Addicted to Stamps - Make Your Mark

And here’s my creation –

It’s been a very long time since I used my Prima watercolor pencils. These pencils don’t rpovide very rich and vibrant colors, so they are perfect for vintage liek themes. I also missed watercoloring some flowers so I thought combining them would be a great idea. I used stamped from Altenew Garden Treasure and Beautiful Day and Simon Says Stamp Sketch Ranunculus, stamped it using Antique Linen on Canson XL watercolor paper and then watercolored it.

Once done, I die cut the panel using Pink Fresh Studio Notched Corner Frame. I also cut a couple of additional panels to adhere them beneath this. I then adhered both the positive and negative pieces on the card base. For sentiment, I used Altenew Essential Sentiment Strips. I die cut a couple of stripes of this, adhered then together before adhering it on the card. No furner embellishements – I liked the clean look of the card. 🙂

And that’s my card. I’m also joining these challenges with my card –

#1113 – Floral Birthday Wishes

Hi all! Welcome to another challenge at Seize the Birthday! This time, our leading lady Vicki has chosen the topping ‘Flowers‘. If you are not a toppings kind of crafter, just make sure that your entry has a birthday theme.

Incidentally, this card went to a dear friend, Hilary, who had celebrated her birthday a some time ago. I hope you enjoyed the card, Hilary! 🙂

Of course, I was spoilt for choice with this topping! But, after seeing this card by Yana Smakula I thought I was going to CASE (more like completely copy it!!) it and use my favorite die in the process.

I started with the background, by swiping distress inks across a white card panel. I ran one shade of ink over another so the different shades could blend well. Once that dried, I added a few splatters of water and picked it up with a dry paper towel to add some texture. Once that too dried, I used Simon Says Stamp Margot Tile embossing folder and embossed the panel. I also applied some gold wax on the embossed surfaces (not so visible in the images), so it match the sentiment later.

The flowers are from Spellbinders Fresh Picked Anemones and the leaves are from Simon Says Stamp Arching Leaf Border, which I die cut from colored cardstock. I used gold foil cardstock to die cut the sentiment from Altenew Essential Sentiment Strips before layering it over a strip of white cardstock. I assembled the card and added a few gold sequins for embellishing.

And that finished my card! I’m joining these challenges too –

#1105 – Birthday Shrooms

Hello and welcome! Welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! It’s always an Anything Goes challenge with an optional topping provided by our leading ladies. This time, our leading lady, Glenda, has chosen the topping as ‘Kraft & Red‘.

And here’s what I made –

I got a few new dies from Dress My Craft last year, and I thought this challenge would be perfect to play with the Mushroom dies.

The Dress My Craft Mushrooms originally has only three dies – one each for 3 mushrooms of a large, medium and small size. But I wanted my mushrooms to carry different colors. Coloring them was an option, but instead I die cut them using the kraft and red cardstocks and trimmed the base of the mushrooms from the red die cut before adhering it on top of the kraft piece. For the white spots, I just outlined the die cuts on a scrap white cardstock and fussy cut it before adhering it behind the piece. Of course, I could have adhered the white spots after die cutting them, but some of the pieces were too small for me to handle.

Once done, I switched to the frame. The frame comes from Pink Fresh Studio Ornate Rectangle Frame. I added a piece of kraft panel embossed using Spellbinders Flora embossing folder and inked the embossed part with a brown ink by swiping the ink pad on top. I then adhered the frame, fussy cut the edges and adhered it on top of the card base.

Before adhering the mushrooms on the card, I also added a few leaves from Dress My Craft Foliage & Leaves 5 dies die cut from black cardstock. I die cut the sentiment from Altenew Essential Sentiment Strips from red card stock and backed it with white cardstock before adhering it on the card.

And that finished my card! Checkout the Seize the Birthday challenge blog for more inspiration from our talented DT and from our party guests.
