#1128 – Wintertime Bunny

Hello and welcome! It’s finally the time when we are having the last challenge of the year at Seize the Birthday challenge! Wow, that came by so fast!! This time, I am playing the hostess and I chose the topping ‘Use Christmas Supplies‘ – since I am sure everyone has those out at about this time, or atleast, are about to bring them out! Of course, if you are still not in the mood for that, our ‘Anything Goes‘ challenge is still open.

And here”s what I created –

I started with a panel of Canson Montval watercolor paper and an image from Simon Says Stamp Wintertime Critters. I partially stamped the bunny, omitting the ears and the Santa hat. I could have used the ears, but they were too big and far away. Instead I used a pencil to redraw the ears, the snow and the rest of the scenery. I got my inspiration for the background from this pin I saw in Pinterest. I then watercolored the scene using Daniel Smith watercolors.

Once done and dry, I went over some of the aread that needed a darker shadow using a black pastel pencil. I then trimmed the panel, rounded the corners and then adhered it to a grey card base. For the sentiment, I picked words from Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and Party stamp set and heat embossed it in white over a scrap black card panel. I then adhered it on the card.

And that’s my card. Hop over to the Seize the Birthday blog to checkout what else you can create using Christmas supplies. Our DT and guests have created some fantastic inspiration for you!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

PE: Honorable Mention at Just us Girls challenge!

Hello! Welcome to a new edition of Seize the Birthday challenge where the challenge is to make a birthday project with an optional topping. Our hostess for this round, JoAnn, has chosen the topping to be ‘Cute Critters‘.

And here’s what I made –

For watercoloring, I used Canson XL Aquarelle watercolor paper. I wanted to use a critter from a new stamp set I got in my stash – Simon Says Stamp Wintertime Critters. But these are, obviously, in the winter season and meant for Christmas, which I wanted to change. So I partially stamped my cute piggy and changed a few elements to change it to a birthday theme. Of course, our little piggy is on her way to a party, carrying her present to her friend!! 🙂

For the background, I stamped a few images from Reverse Confetti Tall Blooms and also Purple Onion Designs Birch Tree Background. I then watercolored the piece using Daniel Smith watercolors. Once done and dry, I trimmed the piece and adhered it over kraft card base. I then also die cut a frame from the same cardstock using Memory Box Basic Rectangles dies, stacking a couple die cuts for dimension.

For the sentiment, I used My Favorite Things Piggy Pebbles, white heat embossed on the same cardstock. I also used a border die from Lawn Fawn Border Dies die set to add a stitched look to one side of the sentiment strip. I then adhered it over the card.

And that finished my card. I am joining the following challenges as well –
