Hello and welcome! We have a new challenge on Seize the Birthday blog. The challenge is to make birthday projects, and you also have the option of using a ‘Topping’ that is given in every challenge. And the ‘Topping’ this time is ‘Totally Tropical’, given to us by our fabulous teammate Shirley.
And here’s what I made –
To make this card, I first started with the background. I chose the Itsy Bitsy Tropical Flowers embossing folder, dabbed a bit of light mint color on it, misted a bit of water and embossed a white piece of card panel on top. Since this folder is 4″, I was forced to trim off the sides. I set this aside to dry.
I then used Reverse Confetti Pineapples Aplenty stamp set to stamp the pineapples in two different shades. I used the same stamp and the rock-and-roll technique to add another color, a lot darker than the base, on top of each image. I also did the same process to get a couple of flowers from Altenew Vintage Flowers stamp set. I then fussy cut these images out. For the frame, I used a piece that was left over from another project while using the Neat & Tangled Scalloped Frame die.
To assemble, I first adhered the embossed panel on a white card base, then foam mounted the frame and then adhered the fruits and flowers by using both bits of foam tape and normal glue, to achieve a slanted look. The sentiment comes from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold and Party stamp set.
And I’m also joining these two challenges –

This is totally tropical, Ashwini!!! Love the colored background panel using the embossing folder! First I thought you used a stencil and white paste! The pineapples look so yummy!
Thank you so much TaeEun!! 💕
Lovely card with all that tropical goodness. The background looks great the way you used the ink and embossed it, so pretty. Yummy looking pineapples also.
Thank you very much JoAnn!
This is a tiki party on a card! Love the embossed background and the totally tropical cluster of central images. (Also, great way to compensate for a 4″ wide stencil – I have a number of those, as well.)
Ha ha! I’m glad to get to enjoy that background!! Thank you, Lindsey!
The embossed background looks fab and sets off your pineapples perfectly.
