#877 – Coloring on Colored Card Base

Hello and welcome to another edition of Seize the Birthday challenge! For this challenge, anytime is ‘Anything Goes’ as long as it’s a birthday theme, but, if want little challenge, you can choose to go with the Topping.  This time, the topping, chosen by Glenda is ‘Non-neutral Card Base.’

And here’s what I made –

I started with colors of card base – a nice mint colored one, and another a dark peachy color. On these, using my Misti, I stamped using a grey ink the beautiful flower cluster image from Concord and 9th Hello Lovely stamp set. Next, I followed this technique of using white paint with dye inks to paint over these colored cardstock. This is a new technique for me, and I struggled a little bit with the colors and coloring, but I was able to get mostly solid colors good coverage on the image. Once everything had dried, stamped the image again, this time using Versamark watermark ink, and heat embossed them both in white.

Frankly, I had no idea where to proceed from there. I loved both the outcomes, and they looked pretty good without anything, but I did want to make something with them.

So, for the first one, I fussy cut the panel partially, added a strip of white cardstock behind it, added another piece of gold glitter washi tape behind that, but at an angle. I then adhered this over a mango colored cardbase.

For the sentiment, I used Pink Fresh Studio Playful Animal Friends 2, which O gold heat embossed in vellum. I then cut out the strip of vellum and adhered it over the cardbase, tucking both sides under the top flap. To embellish, I added a few dots of white nuvo drops.

With the second panel, I first brushed on a darker teal on the top and the bottom edges, to get a ombre effect. I then cut out a frame using 2 successive rectangles from the Memory Box Rectangles Basics dies. For the sentiment, I recycled – I used a packing paper from a Mama Elephant (I think) stamp set, which I had kept from ages ago. I cut this into a flag, stamped the Happy Birthday from WPlus9 Basic Banners stamp set. The die comes from Simon Says Stamp Wishing die. I cut out a couple of this, stacking them to get some stability and adhered it over the flag panel. I then foam mounted this on the cardbase. And finally added some sequins for embellishing.
