#1122 – The Card Chain Challenge August

PE: Top Addict at Addicted to Stamps and More!! Wow!!

Addicted to Stamps - Winner

Hello and welcome! I got to join the Card Chain Challenge again for the August challenge and today’s the reveal day. I got to send this card to Linda in Michigan.

The August challenge had the following options:

Colour Palette Option

(Exact matching is not required.)

Sketch Option

(Orient as desired.)

Theme Options: Tropical / Triangles / Friendship

Product / Technique Options: Paint / Stencilling

And here’s what I made –

I started with the embossed panel. I used a combination of inks to get the colors I needed, since I didn’t have the exact shades. I first applied the inks for the fuschia color on a cream card panel I had, then after the ink dried, I used the violet on one of the sides of the Simon Says Stamp Crimped Blossoms embossing folder and embossed it. I then trimmed it a bit, and frayed the edges using a pair of scissors.

I then cut out a piece of white cardstock using the coordinating die, blended in the tangerine color in the center using a brush, and then embossed it.

I also colored another panel using the same tangerine shade and then similar to to the embossed panel, frayed the edges using a pair of scissors. Finally, I adhered all the layers together along with the flower. I then added a bit of orange colored wax to match the tangeringe color on the raised bits of embossing in the panel and also the center of the flower.

For the sentiment, I first colored a panel using the same set of tangerine inks, let it dry and then stamped it with black ink using stamp from Pink Fresh Studio Delicate Wreath and Simon Says Stamp Loving Thoughts. I rounded the inner corners of the panel before adhering it to the card.

And that finishes my card. Unfortunately, I am yet to receive Patricia’s card. I’ll update the post when I do receive it. I received Patricia’s card on the 2nd of this month, but I was too busy to even photograph it. I finally had some time today, and here’s her beautiful card 🙂

#1118 – Cupcake Lollipop

Hello and welcome! We have a new Seize the Birthday challenge today, hosted by Glanda who has chosen the topping of ‘Food &/or Drink‘. Anytime is ‘Anything Goes‘ as long as it’s a birthday theme. So, you can choose to follow the topping or not.

And here’s what I prepared –

I started by stamping the images from Winnie & Walter Wish Big With Evelin T Designs and Sweet Holiday stamp sets. I also drew some cherries on the cupcake and one beside it. I used Canson Montval watercolor paper and Daniel Smith watercolors.

Once done, I die cut the panel using My Favorite Things Elegant Rectangle die, then stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Things Something Sweet stamp set. On the textured pink card base, I used a stamp from Simon Says Stamp Loving Thoughts to stamp on the edges using a light grey ink and then I adhered the watercolored panel on top. I also added a few sequins for embellishing.

And that’s my card. I’m joining these challenges as well –

#1115 – Combining Old and New

Hello and welcome! It’s time for yet another challenge at Seize the Birthday and this time, our leading lady Barbara has chosen the topping ‘Fancy Fold‘. Of course, we always have the ‘Anything Goes’ option open as well, as long as your project is birthday-related, feel free to join the party!

This challenge was a bit tough for me, since I rarely make anything other than a normal rectangle card, so I had to look around for ideas in Pinterest and Youtube before I decided on a relately easy one. This video here is where I got the idea from. Here’s what I created –

I used a combination of old and new stamps to make this card. For the focal, I used Altenew Peony Scrolls, stamping it on white cardstock and watercoloring it using Distress Inks. I then fussy cut them.

For the background, I used Simon Says Stamp Loving Thoughts on a soft grey cardstock and trimmed it. I added a border of black cardstock stripe, just against the fold.

For the sentiment, I used Winnie & Walter In a Word: Celebrate, die cut several times from black cardstock and adhered together for dimension.

And that’s my card. Hop over to the Seize the Birthday challenge to checkout the creations of the guest and the DT, it is sure to give you more inspiration.
