#1124 – CAS is Difficult!

PE: Top 3 at Neglected Stuff challenge!

Neglected Stuff Challenge Top 3

Hello and welcome! It’s time for yet another challenge at Seize the Birthday and this time, our leader, Nancy, is the leading lady, and she chose the topping ‘Clean and Simple with a Stencil‘. Of course, our ‘Anything Goes‘ topping always applies, so if the topping is not to your liking, you can just join with a Birthday project.

And here’s what I made –

I started with the stencilling. I picked a linen textured white cardstock, and used the Stamplotations Art Flowers 1 stencil , masking it with sticky notes to blend in the colors. Once done, I used Simon Says Stamp Stitching Panel on the panel. Yeah, I had a hard time getting rid of all the teeny tiny die cut pieces (the best tip I learnt from Jennifer McGuire to remove such small things was to run a tooth pick or something similar over the die cutting, like drawing a line. While it does make it tons easier, it is still time consuming to run it over a large surface), so I left a few behind here and there.. makes it a little artistic too! 😉

For the card base, I had initially chosen a purple cardstock, but later switched to white, since it was looking much better. I adhered my stencilled panel directly on it, and cut out a strip of a matching purple cardstock and adhered it right next to it. Once the whole thing dried, I trimmed off the overhanging edges.

For the sentiment, I used Simon Says Stamp Butterfly Blossoms, stamping it over a white cardstock die cut using Sizzix Phrases die. I then adhered this over my card.

Arrgh.. it was so difficult to stop myself from adding a sequin or something to embellish my card!! I soooo wanted to add something. This card is really proof of my willpower – I can’t go any more CAS than this! My apologies to Nancy!! 😀

But I can still join a few challenges –

The Neglected Stuff challenge September: Anything Goes – the stencil I used, Stamplotations Art Flowers 1 stencil, I’ve had it in my stash for so long – probably more than 3-4 years – and never used it!!

#1068 – Inspired by a Gorgeous Handbag!

Hello and welcome! I am super happy to be joining the Timeout challenge as Guest Designer today! I was lucky to win one of their previous challenges and was invited to GD today and I got the picture of a pretty handbag to play with! The handbag is a handmade bag designed and made by Kim Heggins of Running Stitch Design, who is the sponsor for the current challenge and a former Time Out Design Team Member.

Here’s the handbag in a bigger picture –

And here’s my creation in honor of this bag –

I started with the flowers – Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Victoria’s Very Merry Flowers – inking the stamp and misting it with water and stamping it on white cardstock. Once they dried, fussy cut them and set them aside.

For the background, I wanted something that reminded me of fabric, but I didn’t have anything exact, so I chose something similar. I die cut a panel of white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Stitching Panel, backed it with a strip of grey cardstock and adhered it over white card base. I then arranged and adhered my flower pieces over the card.

For the sentiment I die cut a couple of pieces of grey cardstock using Penny Black Many Thanks die and adhered the pieces to make it a bit sturdier, and then adhered it over my card.

And that’s my card! Do hop over to the Timeout challenge blog to checkout the creations from the ever-inspiring DT and join the fun – it’s a double win this time, because the Challenge Winner will receive the bag as a prize along with an invitation to be a Guest Designer for a future challenge!!

I’m joining the following challenges with my card –
