Hello and welcome! We have a new challenge on Seize the Birthday blog. The challenge is to make birthday projects, and you also have the option of using a ‘Topping’ that is given in every challenge. And the ‘Topping’ this time is ‘Make us Laugh’, chosen by our teammate Lindsey.

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

This one might have been my toughest challenge yet! I was completely stumped when I saw ‘Make us Laugh’ as the theme! But I did take it upon myself to deliver, and boy, am I glad I did!

I Baked a Cake...

As happens with cards I usually find difficult, I didn’t have anything in the stash for this. So, I went with my best source of inspiration. I searched for a funny sentiment in Pinterest and found this one. I then thought of using critters along with it, to make a funny card. I think having critters in my card made it easier!

I guess our critter friends were a little too hungry to wait for their friend – they ate up the cake! Instead, they’ve brought all sorts of presents, balloons and flowers – so maybe they’ll be forgiven! He he!

With this card I am joining the following challenges –

Inkspirational Challenge #181: Designer’s Choice: Use Your Stash

Timeout Challenge #130: Unique (unique for me for being my first ever humorous card)

Happy Little Stampers March Watercolor Challenge: Anything Goes

  1. Fun and cute card. Love the cute image and the fun sentiment. You really came through with this challenge. I had a hard time with it also. 🙂

  2. Ashwini, I found this challenge to be difficult too. I started with the image and had to make a computer generated sentiment to fit it. Maybe I shoudl have worked backwards and picked a sentiment first and then the image. Your method worked very well and this is a funny card.

  3. Whatever your method, it worked out PERFECTLY! I laughed out loud on this one! Wonderfully executed as always too! HUGS!

  4. What a cute excuse! They will be forgiven for sure 🙂 !!! Awesome watercoloring on the cute animals and presents!

  5. OMGosh this is so cute! That bear looks very guilty! LOL! Great colors and coloring! Thanks for playing our Time Out challenge!

  6. You nailed this challenge, Ashwini! I’m sure this is only the first in a series of humorous cards by you. 😉 I also applaud you for using this Bird and Bear image, as it would likely not have entered my mind that this duo would work on a funny card, but they really do! Funny and adorable, too. I also get to thank you for linking up with the Happy Little Stampers watercolour challenge!

  7. Your colouring on this sweet critter scene is fabulous, Ashwini … they’re adorable with all their birthday paraphernalia! That sentiment is just so much fun … and funny! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Time Out! Anita 🙂

  8. Fabulous fun card Ashwini. Amazing colouring. Love the sentiment and it looks like it’s so true with that chubby critter. Thanks for joining the HLS Watercolour Gallery this month.
