#1078 – STB: Kraft and Another Color

Hello and welcome to the second Seize the Birthday challenge for January. This time, our leading lady Colleen is asking us to use kraft and another color in our card. As always, our Anything Goes challenge is still in play, and you can choose to join us with without the topping, as long as your project is birthday themed.

I chose the color yellow for my card –

I started with the background. I used Altenew Flowing Drops stencil and used brown inks in a lighter and a darker shade to color in. I then die cut the panel using Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles and trimmed it and adhered it over a white card base.

Next, I used CraftAdda Flowers dies to cut out the flowers from white cardstock and Lawn Fawn Stitched Poinsettia dies to cut out their centers from kraft cardstock. I then colored the flowers with pale yellow, concentrating more color on the center. I also die cut the leaves from the same die set from kraft cardstock and then colored their centers too in a darker brown.

Before adhering the flowers, I had to figure out where to place the sentiment. The sentiment I chose is from Simon Says Stamp Retro Wishes stamp set, which I stamped in two colors, hoping to get as close as possible to the kraft colored cardstock as possible (it doesn’t seem so in the image, but it is pretty close!). I then fussy cut it and then added a few strips of scrap cardstock behind and adhered it together with the flowers and leaves on the card.

#1015 – STB: Navy and Lime Green

Hello and welcome! We have a special challenge at Seize the Birthday and this time we’re collaborating with our sister challenge Color Hues for a Color challenge to help them celebrate their 2nd Birthday!  The bigger the party the better, wouldn’t you say? Congrats to them!

And here’s what I made –

I started with the card’s focal points. I took a strip of white cardstock and used Twisted Citron and Blueprint Sketch distress inks to add in the color, blending it in the center. I then used a die from Spellbinders Nordic Floral to die cut 4 pieces out of the strip. I also cut out a few extra panels from scrap cardstock to adhere beneath these pieces to get some dimension. While adhering, I swapped the inner die cut pieces between the full die cut pieces, and adhered them.

Next, I used Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles to die cut a white cardstock panel and adhered this on the white card base. I then aligned and adhered the floral die cut pieces. For the sentiment, I used Concord & 9th Painted Rose, which I stamped and fussy cut and then adhered with a little dimension beneath. And that finished my card.
