#1107 – Lil’ Birdie in the Heart Says

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! This time, our optional topping has been chosen by our leading lady JoAnn as ‘Add a Heart to Your Card‘. Of course, if you happen to not want to follow this topping, the Anything Goes birthday still applies, as always.

And here’s what I made –

I started with the bird and the pretty flowers and leaves surrounding it. I used My Favorite Things Birds of a Feather die set to cut Brustro water color paper and then watercolored them using distress inks. The texture of the watercolor paper makes the pieces look spotted/splattered. Did the same with the sentiments, die cut from Neat & Tangled Journaling Alphas and Honey Bee Stamps Hooray Day dies. I also die cut a couple of hearts using Pink & Main Double Stitched Heart from kraft card stock (which is looking reddish brown in the pics!)

For the background I used some sprays that I had bought a long time ago. I misted them so they left splatters instead of covering the whole background. Then, once that dreid, I used We R Memory Keepers Woven embossing folder on it. I then adhered all the pieces together to make my card!

And that’s my card. Linking this card to the following challenges:

#1103 – Celebrating the New Year

Hello and welcome! Let me start the post by wishing everyone a very happy new year once again! 🙂 Also this is the first Inspiration Station challenge of this year. As mentioned in the last post, I’m going to be the challenger for both this and the next challenge.

I wanted to go with a mood boad which would reflect the celebration of the new year. So I searched in Pinterest, selected several images and made this mood board –

I wanted the glittery background, and I also wanted to incorporate as many elements as I could from the board. But I didn’t have any stamps or dies other than for the cupcake. So, I improvised.

I started with the background. I used sparkly, glittery Prima acrylic paints that were there in my sister’s stash and dabbed them onto a smooth white cardstock panel using an old brush I had, blending them. Once this was dry, I used Heidi Swapp Confetti stencil. I chose a couple of paints that were darker than the panel and one that was lighter and dabbed them through the stencil. I set the panel aside to dry.

And then I got working on the focal elements. I used the cupcake and candles images from Winnie & Walter Wish Big With Evelin T Designs, stamped and colored them using distress ink. I then fussy cut it and set it aside.

For the present next to it, I used a die from Waffle Flowers Nesting Squares to cut out a white panel and then cut out a couple of thin stripes from a gold texture paper that I had. I also cut out the bow using Paper Smooches Bows die using the same paper. Now this paper is thin and flimsy, so I cut another piece from scrap cardstock to adhere behind it. I adhered them on the white square piece to create a present.

To make the spotty sentiment, I used chunky gold embossing powder over a small piece of Brustro Iridescent gold metallic paper, heat embossed it before die cutting it using Simon Says Stamp Boho Celebrate die. For this too, I die cut an additional piece for adhering behind, since it was pretty thin too. I also die cut the shadow of the sentiment using the same white cardstock I used for the card base.

Once everything was dry, trimmed the glittery painted panel, adhered it over the card base. I then adhered the cupcake and the present. Before adhering the sentiment, I added a base for it using foiled heart washi tape that I adhered over a strip of white cardstock. I also added some sparkle using some sequins.

And that finished my card! I’m also joining the following challenges with my card –

Checkout the gorgeous card that my sister made for me. She’s not used to card making and stuggled quite a bit making it, but no one could ever guess that!! Thank you so much for thr pretty card, sis! ❤

That’s all for this time’s challenge. Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂
