#1138 – Vintage Flowers

Hello and welcome! We have a new challenge up at Addicted to Stamps & More and the challenge this time is to ‘Make Your Mark‘!

Addicted to Stamps - Make Your Mark

And here’s my creation –

It’s been a very long time since I used my Prima watercolor pencils. These pencils don’t rpovide very rich and vibrant colors, so they are perfect for vintage liek themes. I also missed watercoloring some flowers so I thought combining them would be a great idea. I used stamped from Altenew Garden Treasure and Beautiful Day and Simon Says Stamp Sketch Ranunculus, stamped it using Antique Linen on Canson XL watercolor paper and then watercolored it.

Once done, I die cut the panel using Pink Fresh Studio Notched Corner Frame. I also cut a couple of additional panels to adhere them beneath this. I then adhered both the positive and negative pieces on the card base. For sentiment, I used Altenew Essential Sentiment Strips. I die cut a couple of stripes of this, adhered then together before adhering it on the card. No furner embellishements – I liked the clean look of the card. 🙂

And that’s my card. I’m also joining these challenges with my card –

#1127 – Pumpkin Kitty

PE: Honorable Mention at The Card Concept!!

The Card Concept - Honorable Mention

Hello and welcome!! It’s time for another challenge at Seize the Birthday and this time, our newest member Nance is the leading lady and she has given us the topping ‘Favorite Fall Treat‘. The topping is optional and we always have our ‘Anything Goes‘ option open.

Here’s what I made –

I don’t have that many products related to Fall treats – but I spotted this Boo Kitty stamp from Pink & Main and though that with a little partial stamping, I could turn this Halloween Kitty into a Fall Treat Kitty. I used my Misti and stamped the cat and pumpkin only skipping the mask on the kitty and the face carving on the pumpkin on a piece of Fabriano Accademia Disegno Drawing paper. I then colored the image using Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. I then fussy cut the image and set it aside.

For the card, I planned to use two pieces of pattern paper – I wanted to have a tag or central die cut shape but that didn’t work. In the end I just chose the pattern paper for the background, added a frame die cut from Kraft cardstock. I used two pieces of dies to get the frame – Neat and Tangled Scalloped and Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. I die cut a couple more pieces to add some dimension behind the frame. Did the same for the two leaves, which I die cut using My Favorite Things Birds of a Feather. I added these two pieces to fill in the whitespace – that cat alone was looking so lonely!

For the sentiment, I used a banner die cut from Neat and Tangled Scalloped and after die cutting it from the kraft card stock, I stamped it using a sentiment from My Favorite Things Cat-itude using Versafine Onyx black pigment ink. I die cut two of them for stability and then adhered it on the card.

To be frank, I feel like the coloring is actully looking better IRL – this picture doesn’t capture the shading quite well – editing photos to make them look exactly – or even mostly like reality – is really though!!

So anyway, that’s my card for the fall treat! And I’m joining these challenge with it –

Neglected Stuff challenge #1025: Anything Goes – I haven’t used this stamp set, which I believe was given free on a purchase I made more than 5 years ago! So glad I finally got to use it!

#1121 – Going Colorless

Hello and welcome! It’s time for a new challenge up at Seize the Birthday and our leading lady this time, Linda, has challenges us to use ‘Black & White‘ as the Topping. If you’re not a toppings kinda person, well…..you can just stick with our usual ‘Anything Goes‘ birthday! The choice is yours!

And here’s what I created –

I started with the Honey Bee Stamps Zen Bouquet stamp set on Paper Trey Ink Rustic White cardstock. I then used my MISTI for stamping the image using a black ink – it is a large image, and I was sure it wouldn’t completely on the first try – and I was right. I did have to stamp multiple times to achieve darkness and completeness. Yay for MISTI! I did stamp the image twice, half on the bottom left and then a bit more to cover the top right. I then splattered a lot of black dots on top. Setting it aside to dry completely.

Once dry, I tore off a bit off the side, flipped the smaller torn piece and embossed it using Altenew Beautiful Bergenia embossing folder. I then adhered the embossed layer on the card base, before tucking in another layer of torn black card panel before adhering the stamped layer on top.

For the sentiment, I first stamped the words from Simon Says Stamp Thoughtful Messages and CZ Designs Happy Combos. I then used a few dies to decorate edges of the panel – Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders on top and My Favorite Things Stitched Scallop Basic Edges for the bottom. I then foam mounted this on the card before adding a few black sequins for embellishing.

And that’s my card! And I’m joining the following challenges too –
