#684 – Brushstrokes with DOX Inks

Hello! I am getting addicted to DOX inks and coloring with pencils.. that’s what I’ve been using these past few days while making cards. (All of them won’t be posted soon, since some are DT projects.. the others too, I’ll have to wait until I snap some good photos 🙂 )

I thought of joining the Where Creativity Meets C9 challenge, where they’ve asked us to use the shades of the Concord & 9th banner. And such a cool looking banner it is! I love the cool blues and the brush stroke look, and decided to make my card as such. Of course, the beautiful sentiment in white is not to be ignored!

Thank You

I used the brushstroke stamp from Concord & 9th Painted Thanks stamp set with distress oxide inks. I stamped it with some 3-4 different blues, then applied water using a brush, stroking it in the vertical direction. Now, the images weren’t blending that well, but I didn’t worry. At places, I forced it to blend by using the brush, at places I left it alone. I also added a little more of the lighter colors by smooching the colors. I then left it to dry.

Thank You

Once dry, I added the sentiment and the flowers and leaves, from the same stamp set. I have heat embossed these in white; the sentiment has an extra layer of clear glitter – subtle enough to not show up in the photos (not like I didn’t try to capture it.. but you know how it is.. sparkle and photos just don’t go together! ;)) Finally added a few tiny pearls for embellishing.

#682 – You Are Incredible

Hello! At times, I feel like bringing out a coloring medium.. and then I keep going with the same thing, until I suddenly realize that its all I’ve been using. Happened this time with my color pencils. I suddenly realized that it’s been some time since I took them out, and started some coloring with them. And then I just kept using them, and no other media for coloring.. and then it hit me that I wasn’t using anything else! It’s a cycle that never fails to repeat.. and I already know what’s on my list next – Zig colro brush pens.. yup, its been a while since I took them out! 😉

Anyway, I digress. This is what I made using my color pencils.. Also, it had been some time since I took out these old favorites of mine – Altenew Persian Motifs stamp set. And it made just the most beautiful combination! 🙂

You Are Incredible

On some scrap cardstock, I stamped the flowers in a light kraft ink, then colored them using my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. I then fussy cut them. On a card panel I stamped the a few more images using the same ink, and colored only a few ares with a light grey color. I also stamped the sentiment, from the same stamp set, using a dark brown ink. I trimmed this layer, and foam mounted it on the card bas and also foam mounted the fussy cut flowers.

CAS Mix Up - Honorable Mention

Hello! I made a couple of cards, with CAS and watercolor washes in mind and using an autumn color palette –

Autumn Watercolor Wash

For my first card, I went with the traditional full panel wash, after with I added a few splatters on the wet watercolor. Once it dried, I trimmed it a bit, then stamped the leaves from Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles. The sentiment comes from WPlus9 Happy Mail. I mounted this panel along with a black one underneath on a kraft card base using double sided tape, making it a pretty flat card.

For my second card, I went a bit more modern. I made the wash look more like brushstrokes, but went with the same color combination. Once this dried, I stamped the little images from Simon Says Stamp Nutty For You, along with the sentiment, from the same stamp set. I then die cut the panel using a die from My Favorite Things Blueprints 27, then mounted it on the card base.

Happy Little Stampers - Watercolour Favourite Badge

Hello and welcome to my last week as the Winnie & Walter Leading Lady! Can’t believe its already the last week!! I had so much fun making these cards and posts, wish it would last longer!!

Winnie & Walter Leading Lady Badge

For my last post, I am showcasing these cute little critters, so adorable, I just threw away any other ideas I had so I could use them on my cards! 🙂

Winnie & Walter Leading Lady - Aug Week 4 - Card 1

For my first card, I used the critters from Party On. I stamped them using a brown ink, then gave them a soft watercoloring using distress inks. I did the same with the flowers. For the background, too I used distress inks. And the grassy hill/ground – I die cut that using the Party On Die, too! The sentiment comes from Happy Dance.

Winnie & Walter Leading Lady - Aug Week 4 - Card 2

For my second card, I used the critters from Happy Dance. I colored these critters using Zig brush pens. I used distress oxide ink for the background, masking each area for coloring in, added a few splotches of water, then stamped a few stars from the same stamp set, for something extra. Finally added the sentiments from Sentimental: Birthday. I then trimmed the piece, adhering it over a black card base with glitter washi tape at the side.

Winnie & Walter Leading Lady - Aug Week 4 - Card 3

For my last card, I used the critters from an older set, Happy Owlidays – the owls are just totally adorable! I watercolored the owls using distress inks, fuzzy cut them. For the background, I created a galaxy background using watercolors, then tore up half the panel and mounted it on my white card base. I then added the branch and the cute owls, and also stamped the sentiment.

…especially since it is not a Monday! Whoever agrees, raise your hand! 😛

Well, I just wanted to use this pretty stamp set that I recently got – Happy Day from Waffle Flower! And what more motivation than having challenges which are just the right combination! 😀

A Good Day to be Happy

This card completely evolved from the initial image – not changed, evolved. That’s because the original image is still the same, all the changes came on top of it! 🙂

I started with stamping only the bear and the butterfly, using Hero Arts Charcoal ink. I wanted to color the bear blackish-grey, hence the color choice. In fact, the original idea was just to have the bear and the butterfly in the card.. you can see how that ended up!

A Good Day to be Happy

Anyway, I colored everything using my Faber Castell color pencils. Once done, I realized the plain white background wasn’t looking good, so I added the soft blue background, then I realized the other side of the card was looking too empty, so I ended up adding more plants there.. you see how it went.. the evolution?? 😀

Finally I ended up with this card. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I added a few splatters before adding it to the panel and adding it to a grey card base.

#603 – Little Tangles April Challenge: Watercoloring

Hello! Time for the April challenge at Little Tangles. The theme this time is ‘Watercolor’.

2017-04 Badge

And here’s what I made for some DT inspiration –

Hello Friend

I chose to go with a card with different dimension. This one is 3 3/4″ by 7″. I wanted to try something with a long-ish card dimension for quite some time now, so I was pretty happy with this! 🙂

Hello Friend

Now to the card – I first stamped the sentiment. Following this, I started with stamping a few of the flower centers and then watercoloring them, stamping a few more flowers/leaf centers, watercoloring some more..and so on. I also added more color to the already dried ones, wherever I felt it was needed. I only stamped and watercolored them in steps, since I wasn’t getting a sense of how much space would be needed to watercolro each flower/leaf, else I could have stamped them all, and watercolored them all at one go. 🙂 Anyway, I used MFT Hybrid ink, which is waterproof, for stamping and Gansai Tambi watercolors for, of course, watercoloring.

#601 – So Very Thankful

PE: As You See It Featured Artist!! Yay! So happy, since I’ve played their challenge after so long!! 😀 😀

As You See It - Featured Artist

Stampin’ Royalty Top Pick!!

Stampin' Royalty Winner

Hello! I’ve been away for quite some time – except for a few scheduled DT posts, I’ve been doing nothing! But not behind the scene.. I was busy making a few cards for my dear ones, who have birthdays and anniversary next month. And me, I had to make and re-make the cards a million times before I was happy… and that took a lot of time! 😀 And when I finally did make some cards I could post, I fell ill, couldn’t take any photos of my cards, and when I recovered, the challenges I had made them for were all over! Just my luck! But I am just posting them here, hoping they’ll be applicable for a few other challenges..

So Very Thankful

I made both my cards using Concord and 9th Lace Leaf stamp set. For my first card, I chose three shades of green. Stamped them using MISTI, then the messy background, spread it with a wet paintbrush. I then die cut the panel twice, a bigger rectangle and a smaller square. I then stamped the sentiment inside, then adhered these pieces on the card base, foam mounting the mid die cut. Finally, some Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss White for embellishing to finish the card.

So Very Thankful

For my second card, I went with green, gold and black – so charming! 🙂

So Very Thankful

The bottom most leaf was an experiment with FlitterGlu and foil, the second one, black ink on vellum, the third, gold embossing on vellum. To finish the card, I fussy cut the leaves and adhered them together using double sided tape, mounted the leaves and then the sentiment using foam tape. I then added some drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops Bright Gold, then added a gold line frame using Uniball Signo gold gel pen.

So Very Thankful
